Description

In order to successfully do a moisture test you need to start by first grinding a 20in x 20in area to clear the concrete of any contaminants and impurities. Next you take the calcium chloride dish and weigh it and then place it in the center of the grinded area. You then take the plastic dome and place it on top of the dish to simulate an airtight atmosphere. After 60-72 hours, you need to cut the dish out from the dome and weigh it again; the weight gain will then formulate into actual pounds of moisture per 1000 square feet. ASTM requires 3 tests for the first 1000 square feet and one test for each additional 1000 square feet for new construction sites. Included with every calcium chloride test is an Alkalinity pH test to help you determine the surface pH levels. ASTM F710 states that a PH test should be performed along with every moisture test. So, prior to installing any flooring products, you should make sure that the area is free of alkaline salts and high levels of carbonation. Test Kit Contents: Calcium Chloride Dish, Red Plastic Dome (easy to see), a dropper with testing fluid, pH test Strips and detailed directions. If you do not have a gram scale for taking weight measurements you can try visiting a local post office or pharmacy. This is for one kit. Scale sold separate.
